Digital Switching: The Key to the Wired World
Article Abstract:
The development of digital communications systems is discussed. It was the development of integrated circuits that brought the digital revolution to the mainstream. It was not until the development of the integrated circuit that digital switching became practical. Because of technical changes, the integrated digital network, whereby customers can communicate rapidly in both voice and data, is commonplace. For the evolution to procede even further, standardization in switching technology and communications links is needed.
