Howard wins MacGregor account a year after pulling out of review
Article Abstract:
MacGregor Golf Co has awarded its advertising contract to Howard, Merrell and Partners after the advertising agency withdrew from the review in 1996. MacGregor's new owner, Apax Partners and Co, was impressed that Howard withdrew from review because it was not given sufficient time by the former owner, Amer Group, to conduct an in-depth study of the market before proceeding with its brand building campaign for the golf equipment firm. MacGregor's advertising expenses will increase to $15 million in 1998 from $2 million in 1996.
