ICAEW drops name battle, but retains merger hope
Article Abstract:
The ICAEW has abandoned its controversial plans to change its name to the Institute of Chartered Accountants. The proposed name, put forward as part of the Institute's failed merger attempt with CIPFA in 2005, antagonized other institutes of chartered accountants around the world because of its lack of geographical description, and therefore, its suggestion of superiority, however, the ICAEW council has not given up the idea of merger with CIPFA.
