Insurance merger worth covering
Article Abstract:
JIB and Lloyd Thompson are two insurance brokers planning a merger which is part of a wider transaction involving Jardine Matheson which is exchanging a stake of 60.5% in JIB for 34% of Jardine Lloyd Thompson. Savings can be made as a result of the merger, which could push up profits by 7 million pounds sterling to 56 million pounds for 1997. The new group could be of interest to investors, especially since Lloyd's has a good management record and there is potential for growth in the Far East.
