Invensys
Article Abstract:
Invensys is an engineering firm that focuses on electrical and electronic equipment, and leads in the world market for automation and controls, which is undergoing rapid growth. The group has been affected by restructuring and difficult trading conditions in Asia, while capital spending has grown poorly in Europe and the US, but this could change, with stronger growth forecast. The group could be hit by price competition, and may become a bid target in an industry that is consolidating.

Biotrace: danger zone
Article Abstract:
Biotrace is a UK company which produces kits to test for contamination in drink and food. The company has seen profit downgrades in 1995, in addition to losing Brian Levett, Biotrace's chief executive. The company faces competition, especially in the US where competitors have launched machines similar to Biotrace's Uni-Lite products. The company was previously expected to report a profit of some 1.6 million pounds sterling for 1995, but may not break even.
