Is super technology really superior?
Article Abstract:
The advent of increased technology has produced many benefits, but it has also produced some major problems. A recent report by the Office of Technology Assessment reveals that automation in the work place has lowered morale, quickened the work pace, and decreased personal control. This report supports previous research done by the Service Employees International Union and the National Association of Working Women. Automation has created an overabundance of information and problems relating to incomplete information for certain decisions. The increases in instant communications has also magnified stress by reducing the amount of time available for making decisions and increasing the chances of making mistakes.

Is computer backlash growing?
Article Abstract:
Computer usage and influence is spreading, but a negative reaction to computers is also increasing. Many educators criticize the large proportion of school budgets spent on computers, and claim that 'computer literacy' is not as important as basic competency in reading, writing, and thinking skills. Other critics focus on the dangers to privacy and democracy posed by abuse of readily accessible information. A tendency is said to exist among computer users to become infatuated with the process of computing, rather than using the computer as a tool.
