Lockheed Martin was set up through a merger in Mar 1995, and has announced the acquisition of most of the defense electronics company, Loral. The company's missiles and space division has become the biggest in terms of profit, and pre-tax earnings prior to interest rose by 46% to $694 million. Aeronautics ranked second with a rise in profit despite a drop in sales. The company's shares have risen during 1995 following the merger which appears to meet the approval of investors.

Buoyant order book

Radstone Technology is a defense electronics specialist which has recovered from changes in US rules on defense procurement. The company has an order book valued at more than 21 million pounds sterling. Many orders are for products the company is developing, so orders should be stronger some two to three years into the future. The company produces specialist computer parts such as circuit boards and its customers include Raytheon, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Marconi.
