Ceskomoravska Hypotecni Banka is profitable
Article Abstract:
Ceskomoravska hypotecni banka (CMHB) (Prague, Czech Republic), mortgage bank, saw a profit of CEK 125 mil in 2000, according to international accounting standards. According to Czech accounting standards, the bank saw a loss of CEK 38.5 mil in 2000. The difference resulted from the different way of the evaluation of immovable pledges. In 1999 the bank saw a loss of CEK 80 mil, according to Czech accounting standards. CMHB's balance loss increased by more than CEK 2 bil to CEK 14.3 bil in 2000 compared to 1999. The bank arranged 3,300 new contracts on mortgage credits worth CEK 3.6 bil in 2000. It granted mortgage credits worth CEK 12.1 bil as of the end of 2000.

OEZ exports one quarter of its production

OEZ (Letohrad, Czech Republic), electrical engineering firm, saw a net profit of nearly CEK 87 mil in 2000, 87% more compared to 1999. Its proceeds totalled CEK 867 mil in 2000, CEK 112 mil more compared to 1999. Exports represented about 25% of the 2000 proceeds. The company increased the number of its employees by 74 to 1,147 persons in 2000 due to the extension of its production. Their average wage was CEK 12,381 per month in 2000. OEZ manufactures circuit breakers and fuses.
