Orea Hotels see proceeds over CEK 1 bil

Orea Hotels (OH) (Prague, Czech Republic), the largest Czech hotel chain, saw proceeds of over CEK 1 bil in 2000. Its turnover rose by 25% for 1Q 2001 compared to 1Q 2000. The firm's network includes 23 hotels and two restaurant complexes. OH saw a profit of nearly CEK 300 mil in 2000, 60-times more compared to 1999. The main reasons for the improvement of the firm's economy were a change in its trade policy and the better motivation of its employees. The firm dismissed nearly 80 employees and that is why it was able to increase its average wage to CEK 12,218 per month. The hotel chain has a capacity of 5,700 beds. About 42% of the total number of OH's guests are represented by clients from Germany and one third by clients from the Czech Republic.

Hartmann-Rico sees record proceeds

Hartmann-Rico (Veverska Bityska, Czech Republic), sanitary supplies manufacturer, increased its proceeds by 16% to CEK 2.83 bil in 2000 compared to 1999. The firm saw a preliminary profit of CEK 116.4 mil in 2000 compared to CEK 98.34 mil in 1999. The company increases its exports every year. Its exports generated CEK 1.75 bil in 2000 compared to CEK 28 mil in 1993.
