Avondale Industries, Inc., Shipyard Div., New Orleans, La., is being awarded a $163,177,789 modification to previously awarded contract N00024-93-C-2205 to exercise an option for construction of one strategic sealift ship. The strategic sealift ship is a roll-on/roll-off ship designed to preposition and transport U.S. Army equipment. Work will be performed in New Orleans, La., and is expected to be completed by September 2001. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Arlington, Va., is the contracting activity.
