Navy-supplied items for contractors open to theft: GAO
Article Abstract:
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) reports reveal that the Navy ships millions of dollars worth of parts and other items to defense contractors repairing aircraft and ships without the contractors acknowledging receipt of these valuables, which results in their inventory being vulnerable to fraud, waste, or abuse. It is observed that as a result of this, taxpayers may lose millions of dollars since the Navy and its repair contractors are not following the GAO procedures.
