Photo dot-coms expand offerings

PhotoPoint Corp has launched a framed prints and custom-made photo, e- cards section, called PicCheers, on its consumer photo-sharing website. The new offering, which was the developed with the help of Wolf Camera Inc of Alpharetta, GA, allows PhotoPoint members to preview how their photos might look in a variety of frame styles. After choosing a frame style, they can have the photos printed, professionally framed and shipped directly to their homes or to another address as a gift.

District Photo celebrates the past, embraces the future

District Photo Inc, which in Nov 1949, began with fewer than ten workers, has become the world's largest mail-order photofinisher after 50 years, with over 1,800 employees. While the Beltsville, MD-based company focuses on mail-order processing, it is also involved in other segments of the imaging industry. In addition, District does a substantial amount of wholesale finishing and provides digital fulfillment of images for Internet clients and dot-com firms.

Strictly Black & White - a lab with a mission
Article Abstract:
Tom Reid and his wife established Strictly Black & White in 1985 with the goal of restoring quality to black-and-white processing in the photofinishing services. He has since opened another photofinishing facility in Austin, TX, this time with the mission of keeping the black- and-white format from becoming extinct. Reid said the company's goal is to promote black-and-white as a way of preserving historical images.
