Separating the endogenous and exogenous components of the circadian rhythm of body temperature during night work using some 'purification' models
Article Abstract:
Temperature rhythms of a group of 10 nurses from Manchester Royal Infirmary were studied for 10 days, which represented a typical week containing both day and night shifts with rest days in between. Purification methods employed using activity profiles and results showed that adjustments to night work using raw data are over-estimates caused by exogenous influences. Purification methods can be used with data obtained from studies to overcome flawed conclusions arrived at by using masked data.

An evaluation of the Circadian Type Questionnaire
Article Abstract:
Evaluation of the Circadian Type Questionnaire (CTQ) on the basis of a study conducted on 445 students reveals that the CTQ has various defects such as psychometric flaws, internally inconsistent scales and poor test-retest reliability. Analysis of CTQs from a subgroup doing shift work for more than nine months gives better results for the danger-term stability factor. The CTQs can be improved by considering cultural variations and by developing more optimized scales.
