Study sees need to retire some old tankers: Split fleet discussed

A new paper on the aerial refueling tanker aircraft procurement controversy noted that a Pentagon review panel found the need to retire some old tankers. The paper included some discussions of possibly having two different types of new or refurbished planes in the aerial refueling tanker fleet, instead of just one type to be purchased in a huge Pentagon order.

Army isn't weighing V-22 Osprey for new vertical-lift platform: General
Article Abstract:
The vice chief of staff for the Army, Gen. Richard Cody stated that they were not focusing on the V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft, as they were planning to buy a new heavy vertical-lift aircraft. The V-22 was a hybrid aircraft that flied almost twice as fast as a conventional helicopter and had greater payload and range.
