Surfing for bargains on the Net
Article Abstract:
A number of financial services are available on the Internet for UK investors. Free information is available and investors can buy unit trusts though they also have to sign contrct notes sent through the post. The UK Personal Investment Authority (PIA) does not permit application forms to be sent and accepted electronically. Pension plans and other complex products will take more time to become available due to the amount of advice needed. Online share dealing is also available through Infotrade and ESI.

Internet investors: look, but don't touch
Article Abstract:
Investors can easily obtain information from the Internet, but not many companies have started selling financial products through this media. There is some confusion as to how regulations affect such transactions. Companies can send application forms for certain products through the Internet but cannot receive those that have been completed through this method. The Internet has a major advantage of speed, and this is seen in the way that the UK Budget was analysed in Nov 1996.
