The national sales office of GTE Sprint Communications Corp. began operating in April, 1981 with forty-six employees and 1,000 orders per month. By September, 1983, Sprint had over 300 employees and was handling 40,000 orders per month at its national sales office. Using advanced automation, Sprint has been able to handle phenomenal growth at substantial savings. A detailed description of the national sales office and its computerized system is included.
