The concept of telecommuting or alternate work site is receiving more careful consideration by businesses. Employees working at home can substantially reduce office rental and other facility expenses. Flexible scheduling without commuting to the office may allow skilled employees to continue working even if their lifestyles have changed or they have relocated. Potential applications for telecommuting and issues to consider in establishing an alternative work site program are included.

Many companies are now using customer service as a proactive telemarketing resource. By suggesting alternatives for out of stock products, reminding customers of quantity discounts if they buy just a little more and offering related products, customer service representatives can substantially increase sales. Customer service telemarketing may be the most effective service a company can provide.

Total Telemarketing Is Totally Successful

During the past five years, Industrial Fabricators Company (IFC) has changed from direct marketing to telemarketing of their industrial wiping cloths. Results for 1982 show that sales are up twenty-six per cent and expenses down forty per cent. Telemarketing has been so successful for IFC that they now offer these services to other companies.
