Transgas will be sold in 2001
Article Abstract:
Transgas (Prague, Czech Republic), natural gas importer, should be privatized in 2001. Besides Transgas, the state wants to sell its majority stakes in six domestic natural gas distribution firms, expecting the privatization to yield CEK 80-100 bil. Transgas should be transformed from a state enterprise into a joint-stock company with a stock of CEK 37 bil by May 2001. Besides the joint-stock company, a residual state company will be set up. Transgas's receivables and payables worth a total of CEK 4.5 bil towards Russia and the state should be transferred to the residual state company. Wintershall (Germany) has officially shown an interest in Transgas. The unofficial investors interested in Transgas are Ruhrgas (Germany), Snam (Italy), Gaz de France (France) and Gazprom (Russia).
