The perception of spatial layout in real and virtual worlds
Article Abstract:
Mental representation formed in a virtual environment (VE) are similar to those formed by interacting with objects in the real environment. Mapping results show that objects at the centre of the map are placed more accurately than those on the edge of the maps. Static monocular condition is superior to real binocular and active virtual conditions for VE mapping. Males are more accurate than females in VE mapping. The study demonstrates the ability of VE to simulate spatial relations.

Transfer of training from virtual reality
Article Abstract:
A comparison of the values offered by real-world training, virtual reality training and no training in learning transfer of the same tasks in actual work situations is presented. Results revealed that individuals trained in real-world situations performed better than those trained in the other two conditions. There was no significant transfer of learning between individuals trained in virtual reality and those which received no training at all.

Behavioural accident avoidance science: understanding response in collision incipient conditions
Article Abstract:
A new and innovative research strategy is reported in which a linked simulation environment is constructed where drivers are physically located in two adjacent, full-vehicle simulators acting within a shared single virtual driving world. The results of the technology show that in order to be able to design accident avoidance mechanism, there is a need to pay particular attention to mutual viewing times for drivers.
