The promise of cancer vaccines
Article Abstract:
The reasons why the rationale of cancer vaccination makes sense and some thoughts and guidelines on how to get it right are discussed. An attempt is made to develop cancer vaccines using dendritic cells (DCs) that are transfected with tumour RNA, a form of patient-specific cell therapy that is designed to simulate CD8(super +) cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) responses in patients with cancer.

Knocking the SOCS1 off dendritic cells
Article Abstract:
A new strategy for producing immunopotent dendritic cells using siRNA to inhibit suppressor of cytokine signaling-1 (SOCS1) in mouse dendritic cells cultured from bone marrow precursors is described. It is observed that the immunostimulatory capacity of dendritic cells could be enhanced by the siRNA-mediated inhibition of SOCS1 function and could result in more effective cancer vaccines.

Cell type-specific delivery of siRNAs with aptamer-siRNA chimeras
Article Abstract:
Aptamer-siRNA chimeric RNAs capable of cell type-specific binding and delivery of functional siRNAs into cells that was developed are described. It was seen that when applied to cells expressing PSMA, the RNAs are internalized and processed by dicer leading to the depletion of the siRNA target proteins and cell death.
