US food safety under siege?
Article Abstract:
New disease-resistant varieties of plants and livestock need to be designed using genomic information, which would help in overcoming and anticipating the potentials attacks on the US food chain. Stricter regulations and enforcements are to be implemented at the point of food origin, and a comprehensive preparedness and prevention strategy of international proportions is to be developed in coordination with its trading partners and the private sector.
