Workshare: passport to poverty?
Article Abstract:
Worksharing is not the solution to unemployment and poverty in Europe as its proponents claim. There is no conclusive evidence to prove that worksharing, which involves reducing the workweek and restricting overtime, generates new jobs and alleviate pressure on social programs such as social assistance and employment insurance. Worse, it is the companies that suffer the consequences of worksharing, including staff training and the need to cope with business cycles.
