Metallic single-crystal CoSi nanowires via chemical vapor deposition of single-source precursor
Article Abstract:
A study reports the synthesis, structural characterization, and electrical transport properties of free-standing single-crystal CoSi nanowires from single-source precursor Co(Si[Cl.sub.3])[(CO).sub.4] using a simple chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. Transmission electron microscopy confirms the single-crystal structure of the cubic CoSi, and X-ray absorption and emission spectroscopy confirm the chemical identity and show the expected metallic nature of CoSi.

Electronic structures of Pt-Co and Pt-Ru alloys for CO-tolerant anode catalysts in polymer electrolyte fuel cells studied by EC-XPS
Article Abstract:
A combination of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and electrochemical cell (EC-XPS) was applied to find a clue for designing higher performance anode catalysts by analyzing the CO tolerance of pure Pt, Pt-Co alloy and Pt-Ru alloy electrodes. It was found that alloying with Co and Ru changed the electronic structures of Pt atoms and Co and Ru are effective elements to weaken the bond strength of Pt-CO.
