Office solutions giant adds to service center

Lanier Worldwide Inc has connected its field service team leaders to its call service center using technology developed by wireless data network ARDIS. Lanier's 165-analyst-operated Customer Vision Center fields 14,000 calls daily and dispatches wireless messages to service team leaders nationwide. With ARDIS technology integrated into Lanier's own systems, the company expects field service productivity and efficiency to increase considerably as part of its goal to set an industry standard for call center excellence.

AT&T contracts NCR to help with Y2K conversion
Article Abstract:
AT and T has awarded a multimillion dollar contract to NCR Corp for a Year 2000 update of AT and T's networks and application systems. The contract covers an assessment of all project-related code, 90% of which must be repaired and tested by yearend 1998. NCR is a previous ward of AT and T that has been spun off in 1991 and has developed an Information Technology Assn of America-certified Year 2000 compliance methodology.
