California's Governor Issues Mandate to Improve Productivity via OA
Article Abstract:
California state government offices in Los Angeles and Sacramento will have installed an integrated office automation system manufactured by Computer Consoles Inc. The initial system has six minicomputer-based processors connected to thirty-five terminals with an eventual ninety-six terminals expected to be installed. The system will allow interoffice communication and transmission of documents between the Los Angeles and Sacramento offices. Included is a UNIX-based system called Office power with a data base management application.

Navy Installs Video Systems
Article Abstract:
The Navy plans to install three integrated color videoconferencing systems at East Coast research facilities in order to determine if videoconferencing is cost-effective. The systems are expected to save money by reducing travel time and speed decision making; the planned videoconferencing facilities will allow simultaneous transmission and reception of voice, full motion video, still graphics, and data. Comsat General (Arlington, Virgina) designed and manufactured the system.
