Duke energizes apps with optimization tools
Article Abstract:
Charlotte, NC-based Duke Energy Corp has enhanced its PeopleSoft ERP applications with the integration of application management programs from BMC Software Inc. The software tools have allowed the $20 billion energy company to cut down IT staff from 1,200 to 950. The decision to use the BMC programs was also conditioned by the need to meet budget restrictions following Duke's merger with Pan Energy in Jun 1997. Duke offers oil, gas, hydroelectric and nuclear power services to two million customers on a global scale.
