The Mitel PBX switchboard of the Coin Financial company of Norcross, Georgia averages 20,000 calls per month. Coin sells computer systems that automate the processing of loans. Since Coin installed Aspen (Automated Speech Exchange Network), salespeople can leave messages in a digital mailbox, as well as to 'distribution lists' where a designated group of people receive the same voice message simultaneously.

With the help of an automatic optical character reader, thirty-six reference manuals of some 200 pages each were converted into digital signals at an insurance brokerage firm in Pasadena, California. The objective was to render the material compatible with the company's four new dedicated word processors. The job took the machine about ten weeks.
