The effect of Skanska's takeover of Kvaerner's construction division on the building firm Costain is examined. Skanska, which has a 7.6% stake in Costain, plans to use the deal as a basis for expansion in the UK and Asia.

Bovis knocked down to a bargain basement 285 million pound sterling

UK city analysts believe construction firm Bovis has been undervalued and bought for an unrealistically low price by Australian development Lend Leasein October 1999. Bids for Bovis made during 1998 topped the 300 million pounds sterling mark, although Lend Lease eventually paid 285 million pounds sterling, resulting in experts putting a final price on Bovis of 250 million pounds sterling.
