Construction industry consultants are often placed in a difficult position when being requested to provide final certification for work which is known to not be finished. The consultant may leave him or herself open to later legal action if certification is found to be false or inaccurate, resulting in possible financial penalties.

Article Abstract:
Under the UK Construction (Design and Management) Regulations the planning supervisor must ensure the health and safety aspects of a building under construction. They could prosecuted for any later problems regarding health and safety. Their contract with the client must make it necessary for the client to confer with the designer over safety issues and inform the planning supervisors. Planning supervisors have no right to information from designers if it is not sated in the contract. Planning supervisors must be able to withdraw their labour if they do not have the necessary information.
