Working to solve Variations enigma
Article Abstract:
A Variation, such as a fit-out can give contractors extensions of time. Extensions for Variations should be given before the contract completion date. If given post-completion date then the contractor can argue that it is 'an act of prevention' and provisions for liquidated damages are inoperable. On the other hand employers argue that Variations should not allow extensions of time as the culpable delay of a contractor becomes null and void.
