Desert Horizon's Plan 7 received a 1993 Best in American Living Merit Award. This desert resort home in Indian Wells, CA, uses architectural forms to blend exterior and interior elements. Built as a retreat house, the kitchen, nook and family room serve as the center of activities while bedrooms are designed as guest accommodations. The more formal rooms are provided with a fireplace while mitered glass windows take advantage of the mountain views. The master bedroom features a fireplace, marble bath, skylights and canopy glazing. A spacious courtyard separates the interior from the street.

Switch to courtyard design creates a sales success

The Port Dickinson courtyard community in Jupiter, FL, received a 1993 Best in American Living Merit Award. The designers originally considered a mid-rise condominium but later opted for a single-story structure. The building orientation promotes a private pool courtyard atmosphere and provides a view of the golf course or Intracoastal Waterway. The units boast of a private guest room which contains its own amenities and is separated from the rest of the unit. A loggia provides access to the unit which consist of family, dining and grand rooms, a kitchen, private pool and master suite.
