Fishing/racing format splits bass industry
Article Abstract:
Bass Anglers Sportsman Society's (BASS) introduction of boat racing in the World Championship Fishing tournament has drawn varied reactions from several people who support the sport. For instance BASS founder Ray Scott said boat racing is not the main reason why fishing aficionados patronize BASS. Scott also questioned the role that boat racing has to do with fishing and water conservation and management. On the other hand, Triton founder Earl Bentz applauded BASS for launching the racing event. He added that fans of sports fishing should support BASS in this particular effort.
