Lycos enters online retailing arena

Waltham, MA-based Lycos Inc has launched LycoShop in Oct 1999. A loyalty- reward program awaits visitors of shop.lycos.com, the new site where the company hopes to lead a potential 12 million online users of its lycos.com and HotBot.com search engines. The new online retailing site features search, consultation and buy functions and requires only a single registration. The company will garner revenue from hosting, slotting and transaction fees from merchants and retailers.

DealTime launches categories, campaigns

DealTime.com will introduce a new category specializing on holiday items as it seeks to position itself as the e-convenience resource for all holiday shopping. The new shopping category will conduct comparison- shopping for merchandise projected to be popular for the Christmas season.
