Wells Fargo debuts We-enabled ATMs

Wells Fargo and Co has introduced Web-enabled automated teller machines that can transmit targeted advertisements to consumers with full-motion video. The bank intends to install over 800 of the machines in California and Arizona. The machines will present personalized greetings and targeted ads for its products when users insert their ATM cards. They will also present movie trailers and paid advertisements when not in use.

Metris to bolster Hispanic marketing effort

Metris Cos Inc intends to intensify its credit card marketing efforts to Hispanics this year with several programs. A Prodigy MasterCard will be marketed to users of Prodigy's Spanish-language Internet service. Other Spanish-language credit card enhancement programs will be marketed to Metris' current customers. Metris also intends to introduce a Spanish- language version of its Direct Merchants bankcard.

CIT sees response from memorabilia pitch

CIT Group/Equipment Financing has launched a direct marketing campaign using sports memorabilia to secure a meeting with sales prospects. The CIT Group division is offering potential clients a baseball autographed by Whitey Ford, a bat signed by Johnny Bench and a glove with Brooks Robinson's signature. The campaign is expected to generate an 80% response rate by Dec 1999 from an initial response rate of 65%.
