Online drug sales under scrutiny

Online drug companies are the focused of lawmakers' inquiry whether the growing industry provides enough protection to consumers. US Rep Tom Bliley (R-VA), chairman of the House Commerce Committee, sought the formation of a joint federal-state task force to look into the benefits and risks posed by online pharmacies. However, established online pharmacies such as PlanetRX and drugstore.com are lobbying for self- regulation.

The bill would give financial services access to each other's businesses by sharing consumer information, provided that customers are given ample opportunity to not be included in the shared information.
