Several database companies recently announced open system partnerships and solutions offering data access with nonproprietary industry-standard hardware and software at the NCDM. Included among them is database warehouse vendor NCR Corp., which states that it will combine campaign management capabilities through Exchange Applications. St. Paul, MN-based DynaMark Inc. announced that it will fuse Prime Vantage campaign manager from Denver, CO-based Prime Response Inc., into its integrated database marketing solutions. Paragren Technologies Inc. of Reston, VA, meanwhile, bared alliances with several vendors, including Red Brick Systems Inc., Rubric Inc. and Thinking Machines Corp.

Jiffy Lube launches direct mail portal for service centers
Article Abstract:
Jiffy Lube International has launched a direct mail portal with USAdata to enable Jiffy service centers to execute direct mail campaigns inexpensively and efficiently. Over 2,100 Jiffy Lube service centers will be able to order, customize and initiate a direct mail campaign to prospect for customers in minutes through the portal. The direct mail portal will incorporate features such as on-screen proofs of mailers and USAdata's Pureprospects suppression technology which filters out customer names from prospect lists in real time.

Harrah's, Rio merger prompts new database, DM programs
Article Abstract:
Harrah's Entertainment Inc of Memphis, TN, will will integrate its Total Gold program database with the Play Rio program of Rio Hotel and Casino Inc of Las Vegas, NV. Harrah's Total Gold program database has 8 million members while Rio's Rio Play has 1.3 million players. The program would allow the Harrah's to keep traclk of customers and offer the rewards when they cross brand boundaries. Harrah's just completed its acquisition of Rio Hotel in a $525-million one-for-one stock transaction.
