R2000 rate case makes strange bedfellows
Article Abstract:
The Postal Rate Commission (PRC) is scheduled to give its opinion on the R2000 postal rate case on or about Nov 10, 2000. A joint motion by the commission, the Office of the Consumer Advocate (OCA) and United Parcel Service of America (UPS) was filed for an extension of a response due by Aug 16, 2000. This motion is unusual, because the OCA is supposed to represent the interests of the consumer before the PRC. In filing a joint motion with a firm that tries to raise consumer rates for mailing parcels, The OCA could be sending a message that it agrees with UPS' position.
