St Anne's EMI unit, Hastings
Article Abstract:
Powell Moya Partnership was responsible for the design of a new facility for elderly mentally ill patients in Hastings, UK, with construction being undertaken by Kier South East. It is very modern in design, featuring a pitched roof, and is made up of six-bed wards. The architects involved in the project aimed to create a feeling of transparency and daylight, making the landscaped setting part of the interior, and the large-area roof has clerestory rooflights, an element which made the project relatively expensive for this type of building. Extensive details on construction and costs are given.
