Commercial fundraisers keep lion's share, 2 states find
Article Abstract:
Commercial fundraisers are keeping a large portion of what they solicit on behalf of charitable institutions. The finding is included in a report issued jointly by Washington Sec of State Ralph Munro and Attorney General Christine Gregoire which revealed that in many cases, less than half or even one-third of money solicited by fundraisers gets to charity. Munro, however, noted that it is not illegal for fundraisers to keep a large percentage of the money donated.
