Washington Gas uses encryption technology to tackle privacy concerns
Article Abstract:
Washington Gas Energy Services uses EEIS encryption technology supplied by energy marketing consulting company International Business Ventures (IBV) of Pittsburgh, PA, to encrypt customer information. Washington Gas, a supplier of deregulated natural gas, is hoping that the system will permit it to more effectively market customer data such as gas usage to energy marketers. IBV's EEIS technology allows utilities to share customer information to marketers to help them compete in the deregulated market.
