Caring for someone at home
Article Abstract:
About 1 in 5 Australian households includes someone who voluntarily takes care of another household member who is elderly, frail, disabled, or chronically ill. Some government-subsidized services are available through the Commonwealth Department of Health and Family Services, but the eligibility requirement for assistance can be difficult to meet. There are other resources available through various associations, councils and centers. A list of such organizations is included.
