Historical ENSO teleconnections in the eastern hemisphere: comparison with latest El Nino series of Quinn
Article Abstract:
P.H. Whetton and I. Rutherfurd studied the proxy rainfall data sets of AD 1525 as an addition to the record of climatic extremes in the eastern hemisphere brought about by the El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO). This was compared with the El Nino chronology of W.H. Quinn and V.T. Neal, which was based on historical records on Peru's coastal flooding and heavy rains. It was found that data that date back to 1750 presented ENSO-related teleconnections. Thus, a chronology of teleconnection years that typify ENSO for the period from the start of the 18th century onward was prepared.

Climate-convection feedbacks: some further issues
Article Abstract:
Several questions arise pertaining to the assertion by GE Shaw et al that a climate-convection transport feedback involving biogenic sulfur may be behind climatic regulation. Shaw et al failed to prove that more air will be transported out of the boundary layer (BL) in warmer climates. Moreover, scientific evidence exists concerning the reduction of the net mass circulation of air in warmer climates. Finally, vertical air exchanges within convective systems must be quantified to accurately predict the flow of air out of the BL.
