Asbestos and the future of mass torts
Article Abstract:
The combination of difficult situations and a series of unwise decisions were the reasons for the failure of asbestos regulation in the United States. A class settlement, bankruptcy, compensation fund and an alternative approach that would centralize asbestos lawsuits in a single federal court are some of the ways in which the asbestos crisis might be resolved.

Income-related biases in international trade: What do trademark registration data tell us?
Article Abstract:
A hypothesis is examined by considering the extent of brand differentiation as another determinant of the closeness of supply and demand. The evidence of income-related trade biases suggests that developing countries, which are likely to produce high quality differentiated products, might be at a disadvantage in selling their goods to the rich world.
