Article Abstract:
The pace of trade between East and West may be picking up. Several factors account for this trend. Eastern European countries must expand their export markets. Different measures will be utilized to promote export growth. Some positive results have already been identified. Manufactured goods are hoped to account for the area of largest export growth, but several problems must be overcome. Many Eastern European products must be exported to the Soviet Union. The Soviets have trade problems of their own. Food imports continue to be a stumbling block.
