Japanese research consortia: a microeconometric analysis of industrial policy
Article Abstract:
A microeconometric analysis of the influence of government-funded research consortia on the performance of Japanese companies was performed. Findings revealed that active involvement in these alliances positively affect research spending and productivity, even after extraneous variables were controlled. Results also showed that this influence partially arises from the improved knowledge spillovers that happen in these consortia.
