Non-scale models of economic growth
Article Abstract:
A general growth model is developed to investigate conditions under which balanced growth has no so-called scale effects. Scale effects, which are disproved by empirical evidence, refer to the idea that the size of an economy may have an impact on its long-run growth rate. The newly developed model is sufficiently general in scope to accommodate well known exogenous as well as endogenous scale models. A set of propositions are derived that demonstrate that these conditions for non-scale balanced growth can be classified into three: functional forms, production structure and returns to scale.

Policy implications of new data on income mobility
Article Abstract:
The direction of income mobility raises concerns with inequality and related labor policy-making. Policy development must be tailored to meet the different needs of persistently poor, recurrently poor and temporarily poor people. Although such different approaches are necessary, government is expected to make strong attempts at eliminating the low income cycle of having benefits, working and unemployment.
