SPAIN: BBVA'S BUSINESS IN ASSET MANAGEMENT

At present, Spanish retail bank BBVA's assets management business amounts to Pta 17,840bn. Spanish market represents 70% of total assets managed, while Southern and Central American markets total remaining 30% stake. Investment funds segment (which represents 47.5% of total asset management business) totals Pta 8,470bn. Pension funds unit (29.3%) amounts to Pta 5,220bn. In this segment, BBVA controls a 14.51% market share at Spanish level and a 31% at Southern-Central American level. Private banking (23.2%) totals Pta 4,150bn.

SPAIN: NEW STRATEGY OF PLANETA

Spanish publishing group Planeta has planed to expand its business by the integration of its subsidiaries based on Spanish mother tongue markets. At the same time, the firm, which closed year 2000 with Pta 150,000mn sales, will finance the operation with Pta 50,000mn capital gains obtained through the sale of its 5% on TV broadcasting operator Telecinco, its 50% of Internet company Bol.com and its 10.6% of logistics group Logista.

SPAIN: DRAGADOS TO INCREASE RESULTS IN 6%

Spanish construction company Dragados, which is valued at Euro 2,055mn, registered around Euro 138mn sales during third quarter of year 200 (+158% on third quarter of 1999). At the same time, the firm closed year 2000 with an increase on its results of 8% on 1999 and expects to increase up to 6% results during year 2001, as well as up to 5% in year 2002.
