The export competitiveness of ASEAN economies, 1986-1995
Article Abstract:
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is a rapidly growing region which includes Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines. These five countries have been compared in terms of their export competitiveness from 1986 to 1999. Singapore faces a challenge in most product categories, though not data and office machines, while Thailand has initially been successful, later losing ground to Malaysia, and, to a lesser extent, to Philippines. Indonesia has been relatively unsuccessful.

An investigation of economic linkages among the ASEAN group of countries
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted on the existence and nature of economic linkages between Assn of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries. Results show that the Indonesian economy has the biggest influence on other ASEAN economies. The Singaporean and Malaysian economies are strongly correlated due to cultural factors and their geographical proximity. ASEAN economies are also most vulnerable to US market changes.
