The King Beckons to the Palestinians

Jordan's King Hussein is thinking about recalling parliament to deal with the Palestinian problem. The Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) has been designated by a 1974 Arab summit as official spokesman for all Palestinians. Hussein would like to regain that role. He also must consider local discontent.

Malaysia has been in a five-month constitutional crisis. At issue is legislation which could end the king's powers and give parliament sovereignty. Parliament has passed the bill, but the king refuses to sign it.
