The United States antidumping decisions against the ASEAN countries
Article Abstract:
Exports from countries involved in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to the US have increased, and this has been followed by antidumping duties on some ASEAN members from 1985. The 1984 Trade and Tariff Act brought in a cumulation proviso that meant that some ASEAN members were vulnerable to antidumping measures, and ASEAN countries tended to be subject to more antidumping meansures than average. There has been a correlation between affirmative antidumping decisions affecting ASEAN mmbers and Democratic Commissioners in contrat to Republican Commissioners.

How far is Indochina from ASEAN?
Article Abstract:
The economic distance of Indochinese countries from Assn of South East Asian National (ASEAN) countries and the implications of their membership in ASEAN are analyzed. It is shown that Indochinese countries are no more economically distant from ASEAN than Central and Eastern European countries are from the EU. ASEAN membership will also enhance the reputation of Indochina and give it access to external dialogue partner systems.
